Youngs Campden Tablets 50 pk (Sodium Metabisulphite) are widely used in home brewing and winemaking for sanitising and stabilising wine, cider, beer, and mead. They help prevent oxidation and bacterial contamination during bottling and siphoning.
Main uses
- Kills wild yeast and bacteria
- Protects flavour and colour from oxidation
- Sterilises brewing equipment and ingredients
- Removes chlorine / TCP taste from tap water before brewing
Typical dosage
- 1 tablet per 5 litres for bottling protection
- 2 tablets per 5 litres for full sanitation
- For water treatment: about ½ tablet per 25 litres of water
How to use
- Crush the tablet into powder
- Dissolve in a small amount of warm or hot water
- Add to the brew after fermentation or use as a sanitising solution
Important notes
- Do not add yeast immediately after using Campden tablets — sulphites can inhibit fermentation.
- Use in a well-ventilated area.
- Keep away from children.
- Contains sulphites (E223 sodium metabisulphite).
