Vodka Star is a “turbo yeast” / distillers’ yeast product made by Alcotec, designed for producing very clean, neutral alcohol washes — ideal as a base for spirits like vodka.

Benefits / What Makes It Special
- Produces a cleaner & more neutral flavour profile than many other turbo yeasts. Less “off-flavour” or by-product aroma/taste.
- Works well even with fruit washes (i.e. fermentations using fruits) — where other turbo yeasts might struggle.
- Good fining/clarification options (e.g. using TurboKlar) can help clear the wash and improve purity.
Things to Consider / Limitations
- To get the “extreme purity”, sometimes you may need to reduce the sugar load (for example using ~5.5 kg instead of 6 kg per 25 L) for a smoother result — though that lowers yield.
- Higher temperature—even though tolerated—can reduce alcohol yield or increase undesirable compounds. So control temperature if possible.
- If using grains, starches, etc., you’ll need enzymes (amylase etc.) to convert starch into fermentable sugars; Vodka Star is optimised for sugar fermentations.
